Genevieve Etienne travel to South Africa for Ghana-Germany match

Genevieve Etienne has had to do a lot of impromptu travel since she bought her tickets to what became the Ghana-Germany match a year ago.

The massive earthquake in her native Haiti left her parents’ place was damaged badly, so she was there in May to see what she could do.

Her parents got out and moved to France to live with Etienne’s sister.
Then Etienne’s father died. So she went off to France to mourn.

She got back Sunday, with plenty of time to get to Soccer City and fly her Haitian flag proudly with her American friend Joan Atkinson, whom Etienne met in Haiti in 1991.

“We’ve been waiting for this moment so long, we couldn’t miss it.”
