Drake basketball duo brings meals to Haiti

The emotions finally overwhelmed Drake athletic director Sandy Hatfield Clubb the day after she returned to Des Moines from Haiti.

Hatfield Clubb was in church, saying a prayer for the people she met when she started sobbing and couldn't stop.

"In the middle of church, I completely lost it," she said of the emotional moment. "I don't think I stopped crying most of the day Sunday. It was just really overwhelming."

Drake women's basketball coach Amy Stephens and Hatfield Clubb traveled to Haiti on May 10 as part of Meals From the Heartland, to ensure that the 2.5 million meals sent to the earthquake-ravaged country continue reaching residents. They also conducted a basketball clinic that is resulting in an ongoing girls' basketball program.
